Raptors sign free-agent guard Patrick McCaw

The Toronto Raptors announced Thursday they have signed free-agent guard Patrick McCaw. Per team policies terms of the deal were not disclosed.

McCaw has appeared in 131 career games with Golden State and Cleveland, averaging 3.9 points, 1.2 assists and 15.9 minutes. He also appeared in 21 playoff games (all with Golden State) and was a member of the Warriors’ 2018 and 2017 NBA Championship squads. McCaw scored a career-high 19 points Feb. 13, 2017 at Denver.

A native of St. Louis, Missouri, McCaw was selected 38th overall in the 2016 NBA Draft by Milwaukee and later traded to Golden State. He played collegiately for two seasons at University of Nevada – Las Vegas, averaging 12.2 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.3 assists.

Cavaliers’ Nance Jr. sidelined 2-4 weeks with MCL sprain

Cavaliers forward Larry Nance Jr. is currently projected to miss 2-4 weeks with a right knee MCL sprain. Nance was injured in Tuesday night’s game at Quicken Loans Arena against the Indiana Pacers in the first quarter and did not return to action. Additional evaluation and an MRI today confirmed the sprain.

He will now undergo a period of treatment and rehabilitation. His status will be updated as appropriate.

Kerr: Cousins will start at center when he returns

When DeMarcus Cousins returns to action on Jan. 18 for the Warriors, he’ll be doing so as the starting center, according to coach Steve Kerr

Though Kerr said Cousins would start, how many minutes he’d play in his first game back has yet to be determined.

 Cousins, who has been out all season while rehabbing from a torn Achilles, averaged 25.2 points and 12.9 rebounds last season for the Pelicans.
