The Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne will be held a week earlier than in the 2018 season as the FIA gave final approval on the 2019 Formula One calendar.

F1 announced its provisional schedule at the beginning of September with the same 21 races from 2018 included, albeit with a few minor tweaks.

The Australian Grand Prix will therefore now be held on March 17, with the season finishing in Abu Dhabi a week later than this season, on December 1.

Ferrari have announced they will reveal the car they hope will take Sebastian Vettel or Charles Leclerc to the world championship on February 15.

The unveiling takes place three days prior to pre-season testing in Barcelona, team principal Maurizio Arrivabene confirmed at Caschi d’oro awards ceremony in Milan.

Arrivabene insisted it was far too early to predict the performance of the car having only limited data from the tests on the simulator.

F1 news 2018: Sebastian Vettel on Charles Leclerc problems, Ferrari, Kimi Raikkonen, Daniel Ricciardo, 2019 schedule

Published

on

Sebastian Vettel has insisted he foresees no problems with new Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc in 2019 after four years with Kimi Raikkonen by his side.

The German formed a good relationship with Raikkonen on and off-track as he enjoyed a comfortable advantage over his teammate in his quest to wrestle the world championship from Lewis Hamilton.

However, the arrival of a young and hungry Leclerc, who has been tipped to immediately challenge Vettel’s position, could cause problems between the two.

F1 news 2018: Daniel Ricciardo only start for Renault, Nico Hulkenberg, 2019 regulations, prediction, schedule

Published

Adding Daniel Ricciardo as a driver must only be the start of Renault’s levels of ambition, insists Nico Hulkenberg, who is expecting further progress from the team in 2019.

Renault ended 2018 as the best of the rest behind Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull but never showed the pace to actually challenge the big three for a podium, with their best finish in a grand prix being fifth.

The French car manufacturer has invested heavily to try and bridge that gap and Hulkenberg has stressed the importance of doing this over the European winter and that they must take advantage of the opportunities afforded by a big regulation change to the aerodynamics.
