THE best thing about being a sports fan in a big city might be that if your favourite team is having a bad year, you can always switch over to a different sport to enjoy some wins.

But the people of Philadelphia haven’t had that luxury in 2015.

The city has teams in each of the U.S.’s major sports — the 76ers in the NBA, the Eagles in the NFL, the Flyers in the NHL and the Phillies in MLB.

AUSTRALIAN ice hockey player Nathan Walker has joined Team USA for the 2018 Ice Hockey Classic.

The series will see Team USA face Team Canada in a three-game series across Australia, with Walker set to play in the Sydney and Adelaide legs.

Walker, who made headlines in late 2017, when he became the first Australian to play and register a goal in the NHL, said he’s excited to have the opportunity to play in front of a home crowd.

“It was an honour to be asked to be involved in this very important tour, over the past four years I have watched the Ice Hockey Classic grow into a professional event that is helping develop the game in Australia.” Walker said.
