Seven-time Formula One world champion Michael Schumacher has been admitted under extreme secrecy to a Paris hospital to be treated with a cutting-edge stem-cell therapy, according to a French newspaper.

The Paris hospitals authority, citing France’s strict medical privacy rules, said it could not comment on the report in Le Parisien that Schumacher was admitted on Monday under tight guard to the Georges-Pompidou hospital, with transfusions of stem cells scheduled.

The newspaper said the 50-year-old was expected to be discharged on Wednesday and that the transfusions would help to reduce inflammation. His long-time manager Sabine Kehm did not respond to emailed requests for comment.

Fullwood joins big name recruit Mostert in an all-new line-up for the Holden squad this season following the departures of James Courtney and Scott Pye.

Two-time MotoGP champion Casey Stoner has opened up on his decision to auction off one of his treasured racing suits to raise funds for communities affected by the devastating bushfires across Australia.

Stoner has become the latest in a long line of Australian athletes to help aid the recovery effort, with several motorsport identities playing their part.

Notably, MotoGP contemporary Jack Miller raised over $18,000 after he auctioned a helmet, while Supercars champion Scott McLaughlin auctioned a helmet and suit of his own for over $46,000.

Fighting legend Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone responded with trademark class after being stopped by Conor McGregor in just 40 seconds at UFC 246.

McGregor busted Cerrone’s nost with his shoulder when the pair got in a clinch immediately, and then followed that up with a left-foot kick to his opponent’s jaw which dropped Cowboy.

MMA fan favourite Cerrone was covered in blood, had a busted nose and a huge welt under his left eye when he was interviewed in the octagon post-fight.

But he was upbeat nonetheless, in awe of McGregor for the performance.

“Oh man, he got me with his shoulder straight away, distorted the s**t out of me and then head kicked me,” Cerrone said.
